FAQ

WHAT IS A CAPITAL CAMPAIGN?

A season of time where the church comes together in financial sacrifice to provide funds for a specific need above their already practiced giving patterns. This “expanded giving emphasis” involves focused prayer, clear communication on project status, and a solid biblical backdrop for the practice and purpose of stewardship in the church.

IS A CAPITAL CAMPAIGN BIBLICAL?

Yes. Moses, David, Nehemiah, and even the Apostles practiced clear opportunities for the people of God to give to a set need in time in the life of the church and people of God.

I’VE HEARD BAD THINGS ABOUT CAPITAL CAMPAIGNS. WILL THIS BE DIFFERENT?

The last thing we want is to be pushy or manipulative. We want to provide a clear and compelling vision about a key need that we feel we can address together. We believe God has gifted and resourced our church family to meet this need as God provides.

I DON’T KNOW WHERE TO START.

Check out the journey of generosity. Generosity happens one step at a time, like the rungs on a ladder. Everyone starts at the bottom and as we grow in generosity we climb the ladder toward consistent, proportional, and ultimately sacrificial, extravagant giving. If you’ve never given, give something! If you are not consistent, give regularly. If you don’t give proportionally, aim to give 10%.

HOW CAN I GIVE $83 OR $166 A MONTH ABOVE WHAT I ALREADY GIVE?

Consider cutting out coffee, cable, or eating out. What could we cut out of our life as a sacrificial and joyful opportunity to redirect funds to a kingdom mission at True Hope?

ARE THERE AVENUES TO GIVE OTHER THAN JUST MONEY?

Yes. There are creative ways to give: donating property, stocks, or other assets. In fact, there can be some unique tax benefits to donating these kinds of assets to non-profit entities. Contact give@truehopechurch.org to learn more.

If you have specific skills that you would like to donate with your time, contact Pastor Justin at justin@truehopechurch.org.

WHAT HAPPENS IF WE RAISE LESS OR MORE THAN WE NEED?

The project is put together in phases. Once enough is raised for a phase, we will begin that phase. If we raise more than the project requires, it will go toward debt reduction. Our priority would be to pay down our mortgage.
